On 4-6 November 2008 Ukrainian Energy Forum, the major event in domestic fuel-energy complex, that includes the 12-th International Trade Fair of oil and gas industry "Oil & Gas 2008", the 8-th International Trade Fair "Power and Energy 2008" and International Trade Fair of chemical Industry "CHEMINDEXPO’ 2008” as well as the International Scientific and Practical Conference has been held in Kiev.
The Forum aimed at introduction of strategic directions of domestic fuel and energy complex, trends in the world and European energy market, presentation of oil and gas companies and enterprises achievements, establishment of new and development of the existing mutually beneficial relations with foreign partners.
Traditionally, the organizers of the Forum are the Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine, National joint-stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine and the exhibition company “ACCO International”.
Over a period of its existence, International Trade Fair of oil and gas industry “OIL & GAS” holds the position of the main sectorial event of the country and is deservedly among the most prestigious events of oil&gas industry in Eastern Europe.
This year Forum was arranged to coincide with the 60th anniversary of gas network of Ukraine, a reliable link of gas supply on the Eurasian continent and 10th anniversary of National joint-stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine, the leading company of Ukraine economy.
Oleg Dubyna, Chairman of Board of the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, Oleg Bugayov, the First Deputy Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of U.S., Poland, Lithuania and Azerbaijan in Ukraine and representatives of Ukraine Parliament Sector Committees and other officials took part in the solemn ceremony of the Forum opening, which was held on 4th of November in the International Exhibition Center in Kiev.
This year Forum attracted 246 exhibitors from 19 countries. Companies from Austria, Azerbaijan Republic, Belorussia, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Canada, China, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Romania, USA, Turkey, Finland, Sweden and Ukraine showcased their products at the exhibition area of 9.245 sq.m. Over 30 trade mass media outlets were the partners of the exhibition. Total number of visitors was about 9.000.
The foremost companies, which are leaders of the oil & gas market indicated the Forum’s significance. Among the exhibitors were: E. ON Ruhrgas, Gaz de France, Halliburton, Honeywell, Chloride, Emerson Process Management AG, Krohne, Metso Automation, Cason Engineering, Siemens, PGNIG S.A., Rosen Europe, Schlumberger, Shell, SOCAR, Vestas, Lukoil-Ukraine , ÒNK-ÂÐ Ukraine, Inogate, Polish Oil & Gas Company, Yokogava Electric Corporation, as well as the leading domestic NaftoGaz of Ukraine NJSC, Sumy Frunze NPO, Design Bureau “Progress”, Motor Sich, CSC Automation, Eurodiesel, Dalgarkiran Compresor, NHI Electro,Ross, Saturn DataInternational, Siemens Ukraine, Sirius-Electromontazh, Teploenergokomplect, Teplolux Ukraine and many others.
The updated exposure of the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” and exposures of the Company’s subsidiary enterprises, i.e. Ukrtransgaz, Ukrtransnafta, Ukrgasproduction, Chornomornaftogaz, Gas of Ukraine and Ukrnafta, have been put in the center part of the exhibition.
Among the subjects of “OIL & GAS” exposition were: equipment and technologies for oil and gas exploration, production and transportation, equipment for energy resources metering and control, automatic process control systems, local area networks, integrated operational systems for plant management, software, innovative projects for oil and gas facilities construction, wide variety of fittings, protective equipment, services for oil and gas complex.
The key event of the Forum was the International Conference “Oil and Gas Complex of Ukraine as a Constituent Part of European Energy Security”. Within the framework of the conference, scientific and technical seminars were held, addressing the following pressing problems: “Oil and Gas Industry Standards Harmonization”, “Improvement of Reliability of Hydrocarbons Supplies and Transit”, “Hydrocarbon Resource Base Development is a Cornerstone of Ukraine’s Energy Security”, as well as panel discussion on “Organization and Ways of Scientific and Technical Policy Implementation by Major Petroleum Companies ”.
Apart from that, Kiev hosted one more highly important event intended to enhance successful development of mutual relations with foreign partners, the session of the UNECE Gas Centre Task Force on Transportation & Tariffs.
The key aspect addressed at this year conference was to ensure the reliability of supply of oil and gas to Ukrainian and European consumers. Special attention was paid to the issues related to domestic gas transportation system reliability.
The Company’s Chairman, Mr Oleg Dubyna, in his address “Oil and Gas Complex of Ukraine: the Role in Energy Security of Europe" highlighted the guidelines for perspective development of the industry and Naftogaz’ activity aimed to ensure the energy security of the state. He also outlined the important directions for cooperation at the international level in order to form a reliable system of energy supply all over Eurasian region.
An active part in the conference’s work has been taken by the representatives
of diplomatic corpus, business communities, CEOs of the leading western oil and gas
companies and international professional organizations.
Addresses delivered by the representatives of the renowned companies (such as: E.ON Ruhrgas AG, Shell Ukraine International, PGNIG S.A. and Schlumberger) outlined the main directions of possible cooperation of Ukraine and the West, particularly - provision for reliable transit of oil and gas, hydrocarbons production and access to up-to-date foreign technologies.
Introduction of new technologies would facilitate to decrease Ukraine energy dependence and strengthen its role in guaranteeing of energy security of other European countries.
The industry’s specialists addressing the key aspects of Ukraine’s oil and gas complex have highlighted the following topics: principal ways to increase hydrocarbon production in Ukraine, current situation and prospects for development of oil transport, investment projects for development of hydrocarbon resources of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, provision for reliable operation of oil and gas transport system, enhancement of efficiency of gas distribution system operation, introduction of the new technologies, harmonization of standards with international ones and European regulatory documents. Conference touched upon a number of hot issues concerning Ukraine energy market in conditions of the world crisis, efficient use of energy resources in Ukraine, environmental protection and oil&gas industry safety and other.
The addresses delivered at the conference were distinguished as substantiated and topical. The information discussed and the problems highlighted by the speakers have roused a keen interest of the exhibition participants as well as of the media.
The 8-th International Trade Fair of energy generation, transmission and distribution, alternative sources of energy and energy-saving technologies "Power and Energy 2008" is a constituent of Energy Forum, concurrently held within the territory of the Forum in the International Exhibition Centre.
Since energy issues are still the most vital for the whole world, playing the key role in economy development, ensuring independence and security of the state, they are defining the strategic objectives of the modern times, which are efficient use of energy resources, energy saving and the reduction of energy consumption, search for alternative energy sources.
“POWER & ENERGY” trade fair contributes to the solution of these and other branch issues, as well as to Ukraine active involvement into the world energy market.
Enterprises-participants of "Power and Energy 2008" showcased up-to-date technologies and equipment for small and large scale power generation, control-measuring and analytical equipment, integrated power delivery and control systems, energy machinery, materials, technological engineering services and many other. Much attention was devoted to the new developments in the energy saving and alternative sources of energy.
Energy efficiency and energy saving – are the most important directions of energy policy in most countries. Main lines of the energy strategy of Ukraine up to 2030 is the sector reconstruction and modernization to ensure secure and reliable energy supply that increases the economy competitiveness, reduction of energy consumption, decreasing energy intensity of production by technological re-equipment of the branch and by introduction of innovative energy-saving technologies.
The catalysts for the “CHEMINDEXPO’ 2008” project was the need for development and expansion of the industry market at the international level, drawing of foreign investments, introduction of new technologies as well as reconstruction and modernization of chemical industry facilities. In this context, Ukraine has a considerable potential, possessing a strong manufacturing base in the chemicals.
Among the subjects of “CHEMINDEXPO’ 2008”were technological equipment, refinery complexes, industrial automation systems, measurement instrumentation, laboratory equipment, finished products.
The Forum saw a number of business meetings with the participation of scientists, producers, heads of enterprises, branch ministries and departments, foreign guests.
An advantage of this Forum comparing with other is a complex character of the event, that enables to present to interested visitors both technologies, supplies and materials for production and finished products.
The forum have proved to be highly popular among CEOs’ of the governmental agencies, employees of foreign companies’ representative offices, managers of renowned international petroleum and energy companies as well as oil and gas and energy specialists and experts. The Forum improves the positive image of Ukraine as a reliable and predictable business partner.
Holding of annual Ukrainian Energy Forum substantially contributes to the establishing and strengthening of relations between Ukrainian companies and foreign partners as well as offers splendid opportunities for a fruitful dialog with potential investors on mutually beneficial projects implementation.
